The Pineloch Piranhas are a summer swim club in the Clear
Creek Swimming League (CCSL). The CCSL is composed of 20 teams from
communities in Clear Lake, Baytown, Dickinson, Friendswood, League City,
Pasadena, El Lago, Clear Lake Forest, and Deer Park. The league is divided
into four divisions (I, II, III, and IV). The divisions are based on team
size with Division I having the largest teams. The Piranhas swim Division II
with an enrollment of 170+ swimmers ranging in age from 5 to 18 years of
age. The Piranhas maintain the staff and purchase equipment necessary to
operate the team through collection of registration fees, local business
donations, a team fundraiser and concession sales at home meets.
The Piranhas, formed in the early 1990s, are a non-profit organization run
entirely by volunteers. The board consists of parents who meet once a month
throughout the year, planning for the next summer. During the swim season,
parents volunteer at each swim meet to time the races, serve as stroke
judges, referee, sell concessions, keep score, write ribbons, line up
swimmers, set up tents, and take down all of the equipment at the end of the
meet. It takes a huge amount of effort from a lot of parents to make a swim
season happen for our children. At any one time during the swim meet there
are about 150 parent volunteers performing various functions to make the
meet run smoothly.
The Pineloch Piranhas provide a valuable service to the community. This
asset is only possible because of a tremendous amount of volunteer effort
provided by team members, both inside and outside of the 2000-family
Pineloch Community Association (PCA). The Piranhas are looking forward to a
fun-filled season!
Mail-in pre-registration begins in February for the prior year's swimmers.
In March, anyone has the opportunity to register by visiting PCA's website at
www.pineloch.org and link to the Piranhas, by going directly to this
Piranhas web site or by calling a Piranhas board member to obtain a
registration form. Questions should be directed to board President Rob
Pruett at 281-480-9014 or
piranhas_president@yahoo.com.
